Porquê ver este filme, porque nele participam bons actores como Tobey Maguire, Michael Caine, entre outros, e porque conta a história de um rapaz que foi criado num orfanato e que um dia decide ir ver como é o mundo lá fora, gosto de pensar que de alguma forma aceitei o mesmo desafio quando vim para o extremo oriente, sair do pequenino Portugal e ir ver o mundo... algumas das coisas que são ditas mesmo no inicio do filme parecem ditas para mim ou para qualquer um de vocês que embarca na viagem pelo mundo a fora. Aborda também temas fortes como o aborto: o direito à vida sobre qualquer circunstância "Happy to be alive under any circumstances" por um lado, e a conveniência social e económica de um aborto...

“A caretaker of many, a father of none”

Termina por mostrar que muitas vezes não podemos fugir do destino que nos foi traçado:
“Thus I began my new life, in a new name and everything new about me, I felt like one in a dream. The remembrance of my old life is fraught with so much want of hope. Whether it lasted for a year or more or less, I do not know. I only know that it was and cease to be. And there I leave it."
